Why Use NanoLife Nutra Supplements?
Our pets are bona fide members of our families and for a growing number of us, the only other members of our families who live with us and therefore share an even more special place in our hearts and lives. Although our dogs, cats, birds, etc. have very different dietary and medical needs from us, they develop the same complex physical, medical and even emotional problems.
Just as with humans, veterinary science has provided us with better foods, veterinary specialists with sophisticated diagnostic methods as well as preventative medications and vaccinations, all of which result in our pets living longer, healthier lives. However, again as with humans, longer lifetimes mean more age-related diseases such as cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, skin problems and various cancers. Additionally, our pets have adopted their humans' propensity to exercise less and eat (be provided with) more food and treats with higher fat content resulting in the same obesity epidemic that is causing such a high rate of weight-related problems in humans. This is confirmed by the fact that a major pharmaceutical company is now marketing a diet pill for dogs. Some estimate the number of overweight dogs (and/or cats) at 40%.

Veterinary research has also shown that some of the same nutritional supplements which have been shown clinically to aid in the treatment of some of these diseases as well as support weight loss also improve the outcome of similar diseases in our pets. However, you should not assume that a nutraceutical supplement that may be appropriate for humans will help or at least not harm your pet. We, at NanoLife Nutra, have researched and consulted with veterinarians to determine which supplements are safe and effective for various pets and formulated some of these supplements into our novel liposomal delivery systems which have been available to humans for many years now. You can learn more about liposome technology under the Liposome Technology link on this website.

Even liposomes without added nutrients are good for your pets! An added advantage to liposome technology is that the liposomal delivery system is actually composed of important nutrients - essential phospholipids. Phospholipids, including phosphatidylcholine (PC) and phosphatidylserine (PS), are becoming increasingly recognized as essential nutrients which are being stripped from our as well as our pet's diets in the "fat-free" food frenzy. The Nutritional Research Council has recently added choline (part of the phosphatidylcholine molecule) to the list of required daily nutrients for humans. The FDA has acknowledged that PS may be important in prevention and treatment of senile dementias and cognitive dysfunctions in the elderly. This range of conditions includes Alzheimer's Disease, the most familiar form of dementia and dysfunction to most of us. Any of us with older pets have probably observed the symptoms of confusion, forgetfulness and personality changes much like those often seen in elderly humans. Actually veterinarians had already begun to design and recommend supplements for older pets containing PC and PS prior to the official declarations from the FDA. PC has been shown in animal studies to protect the liver from various toxins and viruses such as hepatitis.

PC and PS are commonly sold as pills, capsules or gelcaps in which the phospholipids are in a dry powder or oil form. The NanoLife Nutra liposomal form of these supplements provide the nutrients in their natural state, that is suspended in water in the bilayer form (see Liposome Technology) just as they exist in the cell membranes of each and every cell of the animal body. Large amounts of water and energy are required to convert dry or oily phospholipids into the natural bilayer form which means that the pill or capsule form of the nutrient may not be in the best state to be absorbed into the body when taken orally. While humans may be given directions to drink a large amount of water after taking one of the dry phospholipid supplements just as for most pill or capsule forms of vitamins, can you always get your dog or cat to drink a large amount of water after giving him/her a pill? NanoLife Nutra supplements are formulated such that all of the vitamins and other nutrients are in dissolved in water and/or phospholipid so that as soon as the supplement reaches the animal's intestine, it is ready to be absorbed. This can also prevent the stomach upset that may occur when a compressed pill or capsule has to sit in the pet's stomach and even pass into the intestine in a very concentrated form. Obviously overall absorption of the nutrients will be enhanced if the nutrient is fully dissolved before reaching the absorptive region of the intestine. This fact is being recognized by the human supplement industry as more and more human supplements are being supplied in liquid form.

NanoLife Nutra Supplements taste good too! With their creamy, gravy-like texture they can be added to your pet's food especially if your pet needs some encouragement to eat that dry food or your pet may enjoy licking this creamy treat from a spoon or bowl without food. Remember, NanoLife Nutra supplements will not cause stomach upset in most animals thus need not be given with food or on a full stomach. If your pet has other medicines to take, ask your veterinarian about crushing the pills and adding it to NanoLife Nutra supplements. Your pet may start to look forward to medicine time!

Don't be concerned about accidentally poisoning your beloved pet with NanoLife Nutra Supplements. A more recent problem involves the lack of sufficient regulation in the pet food industry. All of our products are prepared in a USDA/FDA approved facility with human grade ingredients from validated USP suppliers. Our preservatives, when used, are all natural and used in human food products.

As always you should consult with your pet's veterinarian prior to adding any supplement to your pet's diet.
